HOLIDAY TROLLEY POLICIES

Being the most festive trolley in all of the land comes with a few rules of the road.

DRINKS POLICY:  LIMITED BYOB IS ALLOWED – IF BELOW RULES ARE FOLLOWED:

  • All trolley riders must be 21 or older.  We will ID at check in.
  • No glass containers allowed.  No hard liquor allowed.
  • BYOB drinks/cooler must NOT be brought into ANY bar.  The bars are welcoming us with open arms, let’s keep it that way.  BYOB cooler/drinks allowed ON THE TROLLEY ONLY.
  • We expect you to follow all DORA policies (Downtown Outdoor Refreshment area).  Our guides will let you know at bar stops which areas are within DORA and which aren’t.
  • We will be making two festive bar stops, which will be offering drink specials themselves.  Please do not bring more than 3 drinks per person for this reason, and consider grabbing a drink at each bar to help support an industry that has had a challenging year.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Groups can move their tour date (pending availability) or cancel their tour up to 2 weeks in advance for a refund, minus booking fees. Moving your tour date is free (pending availability) and can be done by emailing us at info@handlebartoledo.com.

Sorry! There are no refunds, rain checks, or reschedules for tours cancelled less than 14 days out!

OUR COMMITMENT TO SAFETY DURING COVID-19:

  • The trolley has been retrofitted with a divider in between the front and back sections, to allow for two socially distanced groups of 10 to be on each trolley.
  • Private Group tours only, group size max of 10 strictly enforced.
  • Each private group of 10 will have their own private entrance and exit on the trolley.  (They’ll have their own “trolley pod”)
  • Masks will be worn by our employees who are guiding the fun, and a divider will be in between the trolley driver and customers.
  • All major touch points in the trolley will be cleaned and sanitized between tours.
  • Upper windows on the trolley will be cracked open for increased ventilation and air flow.  The trolley is heated so the windows will simply be cracked for increased ventilation while keeping you warm.
  • Bring a mask for entering and exiting the trolley and for entering and exiting bars.  In each case (both the bars and the trolley) once you are in your designated location with a drink in hand, you can remove that mask if desired 🙂
  • The HandleBar Toledo will reinforce key messages to ALL employees regularly (including stay home when sick, practice hand hygiene, etc).  Hand sanitizer will be on board the trolley and provided to employees and customers.
  • This last item applies to 930pm and 10pm trolleys only:  late night (post 10pm) bar stops will occur just over the border in Michigan, but we will make stops at Promenade Park and other Toledo holiday lights landmarks along the way, and still start and stop our tour at the Attic on Adams (please note, the Attic will be closed when we get back at 1130pm/midnight.  Earlier tours will be entirely in Toledo.

Downtown Holiday Fun in 2020

So other than HandleBar Toledo Holiday Trolley Tours what other fun stuff can you get into in Downtown Toledo during the 2020 Holiday Season?

The list of safe + fun things to do in Toledo has changed since we’ve had to live with COVID-19, but that doesn’t mean there still aren’t fun things to do.  The best two, in our humble opinion, are the HandleBar Toledo Holiday Trolley (which you just read about above), and the HandleBar Toledo Party Bike Holiday Lights tours that are also happening through December!

Other than the Holiday Trolley – here are 3 Private Group Friendly and Covid Friendly activities this holiday season.

Idea #1 – Book a Party Bike Tour of Downtown Toledo with The HandleBar Toledo

  • Did you know that we still offer our party bike tours through December to go along with Holiday Trolley Tours?  Is your group down for an entirely outdoor adventure downtown (with bar stops mixed in as desired to warmup)?  Do you believe that there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad outfits?  If so, a Party Bike tour with the HandleBar Toledo might just be perfect for your private group party.
  • There are honestly an endless list of places to check out downtown, and that can feel overwhelming.   That said, we’re happy to guide you to all of the best and most fun spots over the course of your 2 hour HandleBar Toledo party bike tour.
  • Cruise UpTown and check out the always festive Adams St.  Perhaps the most friendly bar anywhere since Cheers, Manhattan’s Pub and Cheer , located along Adams, will welcome you with open arms and strong pours to warm you up.  Looking for creative Christmas and holiday gifts along the way?  Wander next door into Devoon or across the street into House of Dow .  Both shops offer some of the most unique items you could hope to find anywhere!
  • Put your pedal pants back on from there and turn the volume on the HandleBar Party Bike stereo up to 11, and cruise your way over to the Warehouse District.  Pedal around the ballpark and stop by the Bronze Boar for a festive holiday drink and perhaps some live music!  Warm up with a taco from one of the many taco trucks that frequent this area!
  • Head out toward Promenade Park and stop for a photo with the giant and epically lit up Christmas tree!
  • Wrap things up with a trip to the 12th floor of the Renaissance for a breathtaking view from The Heights bar!

Idea #2:  Eat an outdoor dinner under the stars in a downtown Igloo

  • One change this year has been people looking for more outdoor dining options.  In Downtown Toledo, several restaurants are installing outdoor, clear, Igloos, for dining under the stars!
  • The Blarney is one of our favorite Irish Pubs and this winter is adding Igloos to the patio! Sip on Guiness and enjoy a Shepherd’s Pie or the best Irish Boxty in town!
  • If you’re looking to get closer to the stars above, The Heights has igloos installed on their 12th floor patio!  Their wood-fired pizzas will warm you on even the chilliest night.
  • On the other side of the river, you’ll find some of the best burgers in town combined with a dining experience like no other!  Hamburger Mary’s has installed igoos as well, and theirs will have a beautiful view of Promenade Parks lights from the East Side.

Idea #3: Take a dog friendly adventure to Middlegrounds Metropark

  • Your dog is part of your family and deserves some holiday fun too!  Head to downtown’s riverfront MiddleGrounds Metro Park for a hike along the river with your family (including that dog of yours!) Keep Fido on a leash please!
  • That is, until you get to downtown’s only dog park, located at Middlegrounds!  Pick a side (big dog or small dog) and let your pup make friends and run leash free!  Play fetch with your dog and his 5 new pals under the High Level Bridge.
  • Head home, pop in a movie, and watch your happy but wiped-out hound immediately fall asleep as he dreams of holiday fun with his pals.
