EPIC Toledo T-Town Dash: 5 Reasons We Love Toledo

EPIC Toledo is the largest young professional organization in the Toledo Region. With more than 1800 members focused on leading their companies into the heart of the 21 st century, EPIC members are providing the momentum to bring about positive change in the community. Members of EPIC Toledo attend events throughout the year focused on improving skills such as leadership and focused on ways to positively contribute to the development of our community. EPIC is known for throwing some great parties too . EPIC Toledo and its members are a big reason why we love Toledo. Here are 5 more reasons we love Toledo…

Reason #1:  The Mud Hens

Summertime in Toledo means Mud Hens baseball downtown. 5 th / 3 rd Field, Home of the Toledo Mud Hens, sits nestled into a city block amongst the buildings of the Warehouse District downtown, and is considered a destination venue for baseball fans far and wide. Sell-outs are common throughout the summer as fans enjoy the great American pastime in our uniquely American city. Just over the left field fence fans will see the occasional HandleBar tour cruise past with our customers cheering for our hometown team! One HandleBar group was even lucky enough to have a home run land directly in front of them on Monroe St, and quickly scooped up the valued souvenir.  

Reason #2:  We’re the Glass City

Toledo has a rich history of glass manufacturing – making products ranging from windows to bottles to automotive windshields to fine glass art. World-renowned glass manufacturers like Libbey Glass and Owens Corning started here and remain headquartered in Toledo. Here, we’re proud of our blue-collar background and we never back down from an opportunity to roll up our sleeves. Toledoans don’t just make glass though – every single new Jeep Wrangler is built in Toledo, Ohio.

Reason #3:  Downtown Toledo

The growth in Downtown Toledo in recent years has been swift, and it’s not done yet! With multiple professional sports teams, world class concert venues, and the historic Valentine theater which regularly hosts opera and symphony, there is no shortage of entertainment within the downtown districts. All the fun leaving you hungry or thirsty? Fear not because Downtown Toledo is home to more than 80 restaurants and pubs! Reason #4:  The Toledo Museum of Art

Founded in 1901, the Toledo Museum of Art has earned a reputation globally as one of the finest art museums in the world. Located just outside of downtown in the historic Old West End, the Toledo Museum of Art is known for its fine art collection, education programs, architecturally significant campus, and Glass Pavilion. We consider ourselves lucky to have the ability to take in world-class art and culture right here in Toledo. Amazingly and generously, the Toledo Museum of Art opens its collection to the public free of charge, to this day.

Reason #5:  A Rich History and Bright Future

Toledo has been a significant American city since before the Civil War, when a battle was waged between Ohio and Michigan for the right to call Toledo their own. After the Civil War, as the industrial revolution progressed, Toledo became a leader in the glass and automotive industries. These days Toledo still maintains its strength in the glass and auto industries, but is focusing its efforts on other industries as well. Recent startups in Toledo are tackling the green energy industry, healthcare industry, and there’s even talk of a futuristic HyperLoop stop in Toledo. All of this growth has Toledo experiencing the 14th best migration of millennials in the nation, according to SmartAsset. We’re pumped to see what the future holds!
